About this place
The Plaza de las Tres Culturas (also known as Plaza de las Culturas) is located in one of the most emblematic spots in Puebla del Príncipe, next to the Torreón-Fortaleza (Tower-Fortress). It is not an ancient monumental square, but rather a recent urban space designed to organize visitors, enhance the area around the tower, and create a meeting place in the town's historic center.
Its significance lies in its direct connection to the medieval heart of the town. The tower recalls the ancient town of Puebla de Montiel, linked to the Order of Santiago and its control of the routes between La Mancha, Sierra Morena, and Andalusia. The plaza offers an open view of this building and allows visitors to understand how the town grew up around its main historical landmarks: the tower, the church, and the surrounding streets.
The renovation of this space was inaugurated in 2023 with the aim of improving accessibility and enhancing the surroundings of the Torreón, reinforcing its use by residents and tourists. For visitors, it serves as a convenient starting point for exploring Puebla del Príncipe: from here, one can begin a short walk through the town center, visit the tower, continue to the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, and complete the outing with the Hermitage of the Virgin of Mairena.
