Its region has been inhabited since ancient times, favored by the mountainous terrain, the abundance of game and the presence of natural shelters.

Integrated within the field of Order of Santiago, The core group grew throughout the century 15th and early 16th centuries, until it reaches its Independence from the Lordship of Torre de Juan Abad by means of a letter signed by Philip II on September 14, 1564.
