Pretel House

Casa Pretel is located in Montiel and is part of the collection of civil architecture that accompanies the tour of the town center. A visit to it fits perfectly into a walk that connects the town's historic streets with other nearby landmarks, such as the Casa de la Condesa Calleja, the Church of San Sebastián, and the route to La Estrella Castle.

The building belonged to the Pretel family and is a traditional manor house, associated with wealthy families who left their mark on the town's urban landscape. Its main point of interest is the façade, where the doorway, the carved stonework, and the family crest clearly demonstrate the prestige of this type of residence.

The house has a square floor plan, a whitewashed façade, and a sober composition organized around the lintelled main doorway. Stone jambs and classical ornamentation frame the entrance, while the family coat of arms is displayed above the lintel. Above this opens a balcony, whose window echoes the stone frame and reinforces the main axis of the façade. As it is a private property, the visit must be conducted from the outside, taking in the stonework details and the overall design of the façade.
