Welcome to
Carrizosa is one of the towns in the north of Campo de Montiel and has a very distinct personality within the region.
Its urban center, with its irregular layout and conditioned by an unusual topography, retains the character of a town closely linked to the landscape and the historical evolution of the territory.
In its surroundings, traditional urban spaces, places of interest and sites of strong symbolic significance coexist, so that the visit allows you to discover a town where the heritage is divided between religious architecture, the memory of medieval settlement and popular devotions.

Deep roots
The history of Carrizosa is linked to the reorganization of settlement in this part of the Campo de Montiel region. The current town center was finally consolidated after the definitive abandonment of the old castle in 1468 and the relocation of the settlement to the area near the Cañamares River. This process explains the subsequent layout of the town and the importance that its new religious and community spaces acquired.
Over time, Carrizosa maintained its own distinct identity within the region, reinforced by both its celebrations and the persistence of deeply rooted devotions, including that of the Virgin of Salido and the historic connection with the Virgin of Carrasca. Added to this is the Tornaboda, one of the town's most unique festive events.
