He Montizón Castle It rises in the southwest of the Campo de Montiel, on a large quartzite ridge overlooking the river Guadalén, A place of great natural and historical value. The fortress is born as a castle-house of the commission of the Order of Santiago, raised from the second half of 13th century, intended for the organization of the encomienda that bears its name. In the 15th century it achieved a prominent role and was involved in conflicts and sieges; the most significant being the three-year siege to which it was subjected by the family of Jorge Manrique against the Constable of Castile, Lucas de Iranzo.

The visit allows you to explore a very "readable" fortress, completely adapted to the rock face. The castle is enclosed within several enclosures.
