About this place
The Church of the Trinity is one of the most prominent temples in Villanueva de los Infantes and It is part of the old Trinitarian convent, founded in 1603 by initiative of Blessed John Baptist of the Conception.
Its location in the Plaza de la Trinidad and its connection with one of the great religious foundations of the town make this building a very important stop within the monumental tour of the town.
From an architectural point of view, the temple responds to a Baroque-Classical typologytypical of convent architecture developed in the transition to the 17th century.
This configuration gives it a sober and balanced image, fully integrated into the historic urban landscape of Villanueva de los Infantes.
In addition to its constructive interest, there is also the artistic value of the interior, where A high-quality Baroque carving of Jesus Rescued is preserved., along with a canvas of Saint Gregory and mural paintings in one of the chapels located at the foot of the temple.
The visit gains even more interest due to some unique elements linked to its devotional history.
In one of its chapels The remains of Saint Victor Martyr are preserved, given in 1713 by the Attorney General of the Trinitarians in Rome to Andrés Mexía Calero, a person who financed the construction of the building.
All of this makes the Church of the Trinity a space where convent architecture, artistic heritage and religious memory come together, within one of the most valuable historical sites in the Campo de Montiel.
